I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

If water is leaking, turn off the water at the nearest valve and then at the mains tap outside. If you cannot locate the main shutoff valve or a tap to the fixture, then turn on the cold faucets inside and out to depressurise the pipework and reduce the leak.

Once that is sorted, give us a ring, whatever the day or time is. We will be with you shortly to get things sorted.

While you are waiting for the plumber to arrive, remove any important items close to the leak, and clean up any water or position a container to catch the drips. If you have turned the mains water off, also switch off the heating for the hot water as well.

Help, I don�t know where the main water shutoff valve is!

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.
